Who is WP Dave?
I’m Dave McCourt, a designer and developer, and I’ve been working with WordPress for over 15 years. I’ve been running my own companies since 1999 including my design business. I’ve worked with hundreds of clients on thousands of projects in the UK and globally.
What is included in the Basic plan?
The Basic plan ensures your site is kept up-to-date with the latest WordPress core, plugin and theme updates. These are often security releases so it is really important that you’re running the latest versions. I update these multiple times per month, and also monitor your site to make sure it is online and publicly accessible. I install some security plugins to record activity on your site and actively monitor logins to make sure only authorised users are accessing the admin area.
What does Standard and Premium support include?
Support is time on top of the Basic plan. You can use this time how you wish from content edits you don’t have time to do, to design changes, or for more complex technical tasks like troubleshooting payment or donation systems. Premium support also includes additional monitoring and reviews to make improvements you may not be aware of. Note that any unused monthly support time is not carried over.
Do I need an ongoing plan?
You can think of these plans like a combination of an insurance policy and a fixed service plan for your car: it is there to keep everything in good health and you know you have an expert on hand right when you need one. Many people intend to do updates themselves but the reality is you’re busy with other things to do and dull website tasks often get forgotten about.
Can I do PAYG?
Yes, I am happy to help with one-off projects or occasional work as and when you need me. My hourly rate is £50 + VAT.
Do you provide hosting?
Yes I have a range of hosting packages to suit all types of websites and budgets. I’m always happy to work with your existing hosting company too.
